This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The ND-4 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-12 and GS-13. You will serve as a Computer Scientist in the Mine Warfare and Unmanned Operations Department; Analysis, Tactics, and Simulations Division; Tactical Software Innovations Branch (Code A43) of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division.
Responsibilities
- You will apply principles, methods, and tools for developing and analyzing test and evaluation procedures, and technical characteristics of systems, including identifying critical operational issues.
- You will support protection of the confidentiality, integrity, non-repudiation, and availability of systems, networks, and data through planning, analysis, development, penetration testing, and access control.
- You will create, test, and maintain software applications, databases, and systems using various programming languages and development methodologies.
- You will apply programming languages and skills across multiple platforms or frameworks and use programming languages to script and automate tasks.
- You will research and evaluate new technologies and recommend their adoption within the organization.
- You will integrate different software components and systems, conducting comprehensive testing to ensure functionality and performance.
Education
Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess: Bachelor's degree in computer science; OR A bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of these 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
