About the role

The Bureau of Labor Statistics measures labor market activity, working conditions, price changes, and productivity in the U.S. economy to support public and private decision making. This position is with the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Office of Field Operations, San Francisco Region, Division of Compensation and Occupational Requirements (DCOR).

Responsibilities

  • This position manages a branch within the Division of Compensation and Occupational Requirements in the San Francisco Region and performs the following duties: Evaluates and recommends process improvements, workload, and resource allocations for the region. Analyzes workloads, staffing capabilities, and budget limitations to assess and effectively plan the work so as to meet quality, response, and deadline objectives while managing resources efficiently. Ensures the quality of the data collected by all staff through a comprehensive data quality program consisting of observational interviews, reinterviews, and scheduled reviews. Develops data collection and response turnaround training based on a thorough knowledge of the socio-economic conditions of the region or area. Applies and interprets conceptual, economic, statistical, analytical, interview and data collection principles and practices in a wide range of unique and highly complex situations involving sensitive companies sampled for numerous BLS programs.
