ConductScience in AI Assistants
Connect Claude, ChatGPT or another AI assistant to our catalog, then ask it to find lab equipment and research software, each with its specifications and product page.
What your assistant can do
Ask in your own words, such as “rotarod for mice” or “benchtop centrifuge”, or give a product name or catalog number. Your assistant searches our catalog and can read the full description of any product you ask about.
Each result names the product, its catalog number and categories, and links to its page on conductscience.com. It also gives:
- For equipment, its specifications, stock status and price in US dollars, or a starting price when it comes in several versions
- For equipment with no published price, a note to request a quote
- For software, its specifications, without a price
- For products cited in research papers, how many papers and preprints cite them as of a stated date, with a link to those papers
Your assistant sees the same prices and stock as our website, but it cannot place an order. To order or request a quote, open the product page. Searching costs nothing.
Add ConductScience to Claude
Claude connects to outside tools through connectors. They use MCP, an open standard for connecting AI assistants to data and tools. Add ConductScience once as a custom connector, in a web browser or the Claude desktop app. Claude saves the connector to your account, so it works in both.
Server address
https://conductscience.com/
This address works only inside an AI assistant. If you open it in a web browser, you will see an error (HTTP 405), and that is normal.
On a Team or Enterprise plan, whoever manages Claude for your organization adds the connector first with the address above, under Organization settings, then Connectors. After that, open Customize, then Connectors, find ConductScience and select Connect.
On any other plan, follow these steps. The Free plan allows one custom connector in all, so ConductScience must be your only one.
- In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors.
- Select Add, then Add custom connector.
- Enter ConductScience as the name, and paste the server address into the MCP server URL field.
- Select Continue until Claude asks about sign-in. Choose No sign in, then select Add.
- In a chat, select + at the lower left, then Connectors, and switch on ConductScience.
To check that it works, ask Claude to “find a rotarod for mice on ConductScience”. The answer lists our products with links to their pages.
Add ConductScience to ChatGPT
In ChatGPT there is no address to enter, because ConductScience has its own page there. Open that page with the button below and add ConductScience. Then start your message with “ConductScience”, for example “ConductScience, find a rotarod for mice.”
Open ConductScience in ChatGPTOther assistants
Any other assistant that supports MCP can use the same server address, with no sign-in. That includes coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code.
Privacy
The points below hold in Claude, ChatGPT and every other assistant.
- Your assistant gets only public catalog data from us. If you have a ConductScience account, your assistant cannot see it, your orders or your quotes.
- We use your search words only to answer each request, and we do not store them.
- We keep usage statistics that do not identify you, to improve our catalog.
- Your assistant handles your conversation under its own privacy policy.
For details, see the section “ConductScience in AI Assistants” in our privacy policy.
