Head-dipping — extending the head over the edge of an elevated platform to look down — is a directed exploration behavior on elevated plus mazes and hole-board apparatus. The ratio of protected (from closed arms) to unprotected (from open arms) head dips is a sensitive anxiety index that responds to benzodiazepines, SSRIs, and anxiolytic compounds.
ConductVision is developing automated head-dipping detection using pose estimation and supervised classification. Contact our team to discuss early access or custom classifier training for your research.
