What is Automated Seizure Detection?

Automated seizure detection identifies and scores epileptiform events from continuous video recordings or synchronized EEG. Manual seizure scoring is labor-intensive, subjective, and impractical for long-term monitoring. Automated scoring is essential in epilepsy models (kindling, pilocarpine, kainic acid), anticonvulsant drug screening, and genetic seizure susceptibility studies.

ConductVision uses AI-based behavioral classifiers to detect seizure-associated motor patterns — forelimb clonus, rearing, tonic-clonic convulsions, and wild running — and assigns Racine scale severity scores. When integrated with EEG, the software correlates electrographic and behavioral seizure markers for comprehensive ictal phenotyping.
