The Broome Rodent Restrainer is a cylindrical acrylic restraint device designed for safe immobilization of laboratory rodents during caudal vein injection and blood sampling procedures. The restrainer features a closed-end cylindrical design with an adjustable nosepiece and a longitudinal slit for tail access, enabling researchers to perform injection procedures with both hands free for enhanced precision and safety.

Available in five size ranges from 15g to 500g animals, each restrainer is precision-manufactured from high-quality acrylic to provide clear visualization of the animal during procedures. The adjustable and removable nosepiece with screw mechanism allows for proper positioning while ensuring adequate ventilation. The full-length slit design provides complete tail access for vascular procedures while maintaining secure animal restraint.

How It Works

The Broome restrainer operates on the principle of gentle mechanical restraint through controlled confinement. The cylindrical chamber restricts lateral and rotational movement while the closed end prevents forward escape. The animal is inserted tail-first into the appropriately sized chamber, with the adjustable nosepiece positioned to maintain proper head restraint without compromising respiration.

The longitudinal slit running the entire length of the tube allows the tail to extend externally while keeping the body securely contained. This design enables clear visualization and access to the tail vasculature while preventing the animal from turning around or withdrawing the tail. The screw mechanism on the nosepiece allows fine adjustment of internal chamber length to accommodate individual animal size variations within each weight range.

Proper sizing is critical for effective restraint - the chamber must be large enough to permit normal respiration but small enough to prevent turning. The transparent acrylic construction allows continuous visual monitoring of the animal's condition throughout the procedure.

Features & Benefits
