It was an honor for ConductScience to receive Prize 2 in the NIH S-Index Challenge, alongside six other finalist groups working toward the same goal: giving researchers meaningful credit for data that others can use.

A hard problem, shared

How do you reward the work that makes a dataset reusable, rather than only the paper that first reports it?

That is the question the S-Index Challenge brought to the field. Thank you to Michael F. Chiang and the entire NIH team for convening it, and to Dr. Jay Bhattacharya for opening the event with such a clear challenge to the field.

Finalist

The SHARE Index was selected among seven finalist teams. NIH recognized the proposal, led by Shuhan He with Allison Goff and Henry He, as a unified metric for exemplary data sharing behavior.

For ConductScience, the source of the data is where the work begins. Since 2014, we have grown into a full-stack scientific manufacturing company serving more than 1,200 institutions across 50+ countries, with 4,800+ products. That same rigor earned ConductScience the 2026 NIH Replication Prize.

Make reuse count

SHAREscore evaluates how well data is actually shared. The S-Index carries that signal to the researcher, rewarding reuse downstream of how data is made.

The index is only credible when the chain of context is intact.

From the instrument to the researcher, every handoff can preserve the evidence that makes reuse visible.

SHAREscore is the open standard scoring how well data is actually shared across 76 million datasets today. Where the h-index rewards citations downstream of publication, the S-Index rewards reuse downstream of how data is made.
