Active job openings
Open roles for engineers and operators building scientific equipment, software, and research workflows.
Current roles
We are currently hiring for full-time roles connected to our Glenview, Illinois office. The application form is general, so candidates can share their background even if their experience spans multiple areas.
Software Engineer
ConductScience is seeking a Software Engineer to build scientific software, ConductVision computer-vision workflows, internal platforms, and AI-assisted systems for research tools. We are looking for an engineer with strong fundamentals, practical project experience, and the ability to learn quickly in real production systems. This role can fit an early-career candidate who can move between Python model pipelines, Windows desktop software, video/image analysis, automation, and the details required to make lab software dependable for researchers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Build and maintain scientific software for ConductVision and related ConductScience platforms, from desktop workflows to backend services and internal tools
- Develop Python services for video processing, behavioral tracking, segmentation, pose estimation, model inference, data export, and scientific quality review
- Work on Windows desktop application code, including C#/.NET/WPF interfaces, device workflows, local services, and communication between UI and analysis processes
- Improve computer-vision and machine-learning pipelines using tools such as PyTorch, OpenCV, YOLO-family models, DeepLabCut-style pose estimation, scikit-image, scikit-learn, and related scientific Python libraries
- Package and deploy reliable researcher-facing software, including GPU-enabled environments, PyInstaller-style executables, local service scripts, and reproducible model/runtime setup
- Work with scientists, operators, and product teams to turn real lab workflows into stable tools with clear documentation, testable assumptions, and maintainable release paths
Minimum Qualifications
- Relevant computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, data, AI, or equivalent practical training
- Strong programming ability in Python plus working ability in C#, .NET, TypeScript, JavaScript, or another production language
- Comfort with scientific Python and data workflows, including NumPy, pandas, OpenCV, model inference, video files, structured exports, and debugging performance issues
- Ability to reason across desktop UI code, background services, machine-learning models, file formats, hardware constraints, and user-facing workflows
- Evidence from internships, coursework, research projects, GitHub, portfolio work, or prior roles showing that you can build working software
- Ability to debug issues across application code, Python environments, GPU dependencies, model files, camera or video inputs, and third-party libraries
- Practical judgment with imperfect real-world lab data, changing requirements, and systems that must keep working after launch
- Clear written communication, disciplined recordkeeping, and ownership from problem definition through deployment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with C#/.NET/WPF, Windows desktop software, DevExpress, Emgu CV, WebSocket-based local services, or hardware-connected desktop applications
- Experience with PyTorch, torchvision, ultralytics/YOLO, ONNX Runtime, DeepLabCut-style pose estimation, segmentation, tracking, or model benchmarking
- Experience packaging Python applications with PyInstaller or maintaining reproducible CUDA/GPU-enabled environments on Windows
- Experience with FastAPI, Next.js, React, PostgreSQL, cloud deployment, GPU orchestration, edge devices, or hybrid cloud/local software systems
- Background in scientific, biomedical, laboratory, behavioral neuroscience, animal tracking, industrial inspection, robotics perception, or research-tooling software
The application opens in Google Forms and is kept general for current and future hiring needs.
Bioinformatics Engineer
Conduct Science is seeking a Bioinformatics Engineer to build practical AI/ML-enabled data systems for biological, preclinical, and research operations workflows. The successful candidate will turn messy scientific, imaging, and experimental datasets into reliable internal tools, reproducible analyses, model-evaluation workflows, and clear outputs that help scientists, engineers, and operations teammates make better decisions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Build and maintain Python-based pipelines for biological, biomedical, imaging, sequencing, microscopy, behavioral, or lab operations datasets
- Clean, normalize, validate, and document research data from internal systems, public sources, instruments, and vendor files
- Develop reproducible notebooks, scripts, dashboards, and internal tools for scientific analysis, ML experimentation, and model evaluation
- Apply machine learning, computer vision, or image-analysis methods to experimental datasets where they improve measurement, classification, segmentation, tracking, or quality control
- Work with scientists and product teams to translate research questions into structured datasets, analysis plans, and usable outputs
- Document assumptions, data sources, quality checks, and workflow changes so analyses can be repeated and reviewed
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, Biology, or a related field, OR equivalent practical experience
- Strong Python skills and comfort working with structured and semi-structured scientific data
- Experience with data cleaning, exploratory analysis, reproducible notebooks, scripts, model evaluation, and version-controlled workflows
- Hands-on experience with machine learning, computer vision, image analysis, or applied AI in a scientific or technical setting
- Ability to explain technical findings clearly to scientific and non-technical teammates
- Ability to work full-time in the Glenview, IL office
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with pandas, NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch, OpenCV, R, SQL, workflow automation, or cloud data tools
- Experience with biological, biomedical, genomics, microscopy, imaging, behavioral, video, or lab automation datasets
- Experience with segmentation, tracking, classification, feature extraction, signal processing, or multimodal scientific data
- Familiarity with statistical analysis, quality control, metadata standards, assay data, or scientific instrumentation
- Comfort building practical internal tools rather than only one-off analyses
The application opens in Google Forms and is kept general for current and future hiring needs.
