What is Circling Detection?

Rotational behavior — persistent circling in one direction — is the hallmark of unilateral dopamine depletion in 6-OHDA Parkinson's models. Amphetamine-induced ipsilateral and apomorphine-induced contralateral rotations quantify lesion extent and dopaminergic graft efficacy. Circling also occurs in vestibular dysfunction and unilateral brain lesions.
