The Fish Detour Task Apparatus recreates the published four-compartment aquatic task in which a subject observes a social goal through a window, exits a central corridor, and chooses among compartments near or far from that goal.
Paper-defined two-tank system
The validated reference is a pair of physically separate glass tanks facing each other, with their adjacent walls left uncovered. A custom corridor-and-partition insert can be evaluated only after the laboratory supplies the exact internal tank dimensions. The final drawing confirms every aperture, barrier, divider, water depth, tank alignment, and mounting interface.

The published apparatus was used with zebrafish, goldfish, redtail splitfin, and freshwater angelfish. Species-specific husbandry and study procedures remain under the laboratory protocol.

What is the difference between the complete system and a custom insert?
The complete system follows the paper-defined two-tank relationship. A custom insert is not assumed compatible and is quoted only after the base tank dimensions and viewing geometry pass engineering review.
