Plan short-distance primate movement as a controlled workflow

A transfer cage connects two parts of the animal-care process: the enclosure where the animal begins and the destination where work or housing continues. For marmosets and other compatible small primates, that movement should be planned around animal size, transfer technique, route, staff roles, biosecurity, and the receiving enclosure. The MY1 provides a compact cage geometry for that workflow rather than serving as a substitute for long-term housing.

The enclosure measures 500 × 550 × 600 mm. A horizontal sliding door with a lock pin provides a defined access point, while a drawer-style stainless steel waste tray supports routine management of the cage during use. These recorded features help teams evaluate how the cage will align with room doors, transfer interfaces, carts, corridors, and cleaning areas. Compatibility with a particular home cage or procedural enclosure must still be confirmed.

Before ordering, trace the complete movement path. Identify where the animal enters the cage, how the door is secured, who verifies closure, how the cage is carried or placed on transport equipment, and where the animal exits. Review turns, thresholds, elevators, secure holding points, and any area where the cage must be set down. This route-based review is more useful than considering cage dimensions in isolation.

Cleaning and waste handling are part of the workflow as well. Confirm how the tray will be removed, where the cage is sanitized, and whether the institution needs dedicated equipment for different rooms or colonies. The material, disinfectant, and contact-time requirements should follow the facility's validated procedures.
