The vacuum unit pulls air in through the holes of a perforated counting head. Each hole is sized to hold one seed, so the head lifts as many seeds as it has holes. When the suction stops, the seeds drop onto the moist substrate in the same pattern as the holes.
A control on the unit sets the suction strength to suit the seed size.
The counter comes with five counting heads of different sizes, each matched to a Petri dish. Four of the heads have 100 holes each. One head is made for corn.
Incubate the dishes in our seed germinator. Use our Boerner divider to reduce the submitted sample to a working sample.

Will it run on 120 V, 60 Hz power?
No. It is built for 220 V at 50 Hz. If your lab runs on 120 V or 60 Hz power, request a quote before you order, and we will confirm the power setup with you.
Can it place large seeds such as corn?
Yes. One of the five heads is made for corn. Send us your kernel sizes and we will confirm the fit before you order.
How does it differ from an electronic seed counter?
An electronic seed counter counts seeds into a cup, for thousand-seed weight or for test batches. The vacuum counter picks up a replicate and lays it out evenly spaced on the substrate, so you do not place seeds by hand.
