The ConductScience Air Shower is a cleanroom decontamination system designed to remove particulate contamination from personnel and equipment entering controlled environments. The system utilizes high-velocity HEPA-filtered air streams delivered through precision-engineered stainless steel nozzles to dislodge and remove particles from surfaces before entry into sterile or controlled areas.
Available in multiple configurations (single-person and double-person models), the air shower features adjustable cycle times from 0-99 seconds and delivers filtered air at 25 m/s velocity through a 99.995% efficiency HEPA filtration system. The enclosed chamber design with integrated lighting provides a controlled decontamination environment for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and research facilities requiring stringent contamination control.
How It Works
The air shower operates on the principle of high-velocity particle displacement using HEPA-filtered air streams. When personnel enter the chamber, the system activates automatically or manually, generating air flow at 25 m/s through strategically positioned stainless steel nozzles. The high-velocity air creates turbulent flow patterns that mechanically dislodge particles from clothing, hair, and exposed surfaces through aerodynamic force.
The system employs HEPA filtration with 99.995% efficiency at 0.3 μm particle size, ensuring that only clean air contacts the person or equipment being decontaminated. The filtered air circulation creates a positive pressure environment within the chamber, preventing external contaminants from entering during the decontamination cycle. The adjustable timer system allows optimization of exposure duration based on contamination level and facility protocols.
The enclosed chamber design with controlled air flow patterns ensures systematic coverage of all exposed surfaces, while the stainless steel construction facilitates cleaning and prevents particle generation from the system itself.

| Feature | This Product | Typical Alternative | Advantage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Air Velocity | 25 m/s through stainless steel nozzles | Basic models often operate at 18-22 m/s with fewer nozzles | Higher velocity provides more effective particle dislodging force for thorough surface decontamination |
| HEPA Filter Efficiency | 99.995% efficiency at 0.3 μm | Standard HEPA filters typically specify 99.97% efficiency | Enhanced filtration efficiency provides additional assurance for critical contamination control applications |
| Timer Range | 0-99 seconds adjustable | Fixed cycle times or limited adjustment ranges in entry-level models | Wide adjustment range allows precise optimization for different contamination levels and facility protocols |
| Chamber Size Options | Multiple configurations from single to double-person capacity | Single size options require separate model selection | Scalable sizing accommodates different facility layouts and throughput requirements within one product line |
| Nozzle Configuration | 6-24 stainless steel nozzles depending on model | Fewer nozzles or plastic construction in basic units | Comprehensive air coverage with durable, cleanable nozzle materials for consistent long-term performance |
This air shower system combines high-velocity air delivery, precision HEPA filtration, and flexible configuration options for comprehensive personnel and equipment decontamination. The adjustable cycle timing and multiple size options provide installation flexibility for various facility requirements.
Practical Tips
Verify air velocity at each nozzle quarterly using a calibrated anemometer, documenting readings to ensure consistent 25 m/s delivery across all positions.
Why: Velocity uniformity is critical for effective particle removal and system performance validation.
Monitor HEPA filter pressure drop monthly and replace filters when differential pressure exceeds manufacturer specifications.
Why: Clogged filters reduce air flow and compromise decontamination effectiveness while increasing energy consumption.
Position personnel with arms slightly extended and rotate slowly during the cycle to ensure air flow contacts all exposed surfaces.
Why: Proper positioning maximizes particle removal efficiency by exposing all contaminated surfaces to high-velocity air streams.
Clean stainless steel surfaces weekly with appropriate cleanroom-compatible disinfectants to prevent particle accumulation.
Why: Regular cleaning prevents the air shower itself from becoming a contamination source within the cleanroom environment.
Adjust cycle time based on contamination risk assessment, using longer cycles for heavily soiled items and shorter cycles for routine entry.
Why: Optimized cycle timing balances decontamination effectiveness with operational efficiency and personnel throughput.
Check for proper door sealing if air velocity appears reduced, as air leakage can significantly impact system performance.
Why: Air leaks reduce internal pressure and air flow velocity, compromising the mechanical particle removal process.
Ensure emergency door release mechanisms function properly and personnel understand emergency exit procedures.
Why: Safety systems prevent personnel entrapment while maintaining containment integrity during normal operation.
Log cycle times and air velocity measurements in facility documentation to demonstrate consistent decontamination procedures.
Why: Performance documentation supports quality assurance programs and regulatory compliance in controlled environments.

Compliance
What particle size range does the HEPA filtration effectively remove?
The HEPA filter provides 99.995% efficiency at 0.3 μm, which is the most penetrating particle size for HEPA media. This ensures effective removal of particles both larger and smaller than 0.3 μm, covering the range critical for cleanroom applications.
How do I determine the appropriate cycle time for my application?
Cycle time should be based on contamination level assessment and facility protocols. The 0-99 second adjustable range allows optimization from quick 10-15 second cycles for routine entry to longer 30-60 second cycles for heavily contaminated items or higher cleanliness requirements.
What maintenance is required for optimal performance?
Regular HEPA filter replacement based on pressure drop monitoring, periodic air velocity verification at nozzles, cleaning of stainless steel surfaces, and timer function testing. Consult product datasheet for specific maintenance intervals and procedures.
Can the system accommodate equipment decontamination in addition to personnel?
Yes, the chamber dimensions (800×900×1930mm to 800×1900×1930mm shower area) can accommodate small equipment and carts along with personnel, though larger equipment may require the double-person models for adequate clearance.
How does air velocity uniformity affect decontamination effectiveness?
The 25 m/s specification and multiple nozzle configuration (6-24 nozzles) are designed to provide uniform air coverage. Periodic velocity measurement at each nozzle position ensures consistent performance across the chamber.
What electrical requirements are needed for installation?
Power consumption varies by model from 550W to 2200W depending on chamber size and nozzle configuration. Proper electrical supply sizing and grounding are essential for safe operation and optimal performance.
How does this compare to alternative decontamination methods?
Air showers provide mechanical particle removal without chemicals or consumables, unlike sticky mats or antiseptic sprays. They offer automated, repeatable decontamination cycles compared to manual cleaning procedures, with immediate operation and no drying time required.
