Operating Principle
Air is drawn through the optical sensing chamber at a controlled flow rate. A focused semiconductor laser beam illuminates particles as they pass through the sensing volume. Each particle produces a light scattering pulse proportional to its size, which is detected by a photosensitive receiver. The instrument classifies each pulse into the appropriate size channel and accumulates counts over the sampling period.
