Automatic Laser Particle Size Analyzer
Five-model family of automatic laser diffraction particle size analyzers covering 0.01–2000 µm across dry, wet, and combined dispersion methods. Up to 127 detector channels, <0.5% repeatability, and automated measurement workflows for powders, suspensions, emulsions, and aerosols in pharmaceutical, materials science, chemical, and industrial QC applications.
Overview
The Automatic Laser Particle Size Analyzer series applies laser diffraction to determine particle size distributions by measuring the angular intensity of scattered light. Compliance
What is the difference between the dry and wet measurement methods?
Dry method (2020L, 6100D): powder is dispersed in a stream of high-pressure air (0.1–0.8 MPa) and transported through the laser beam. Best for free-flowing powders, materials that react with solvents, and samples requiring no cleaning between runs. Wet method (5100H, 5200H, 6100C, 6100D): particles are suspended in a solvent and circulated through the measurement cell using a pump (100–3950 rpm) combined with 40 kHz / 80 W ultrasonic agitation. Better for fine particles below 0.1 µm and materials where agglomeration in air would skew results. The 6100D supports both modes.
Which model covers the finest particles?
The BB-BPSA-6100D reaches 0.01 µm (10 nm) in wet mode with 127 detector channels, making it the choice for nano-scale particles, fine pharmaceutical APIs, and sub-micron emulsions. All other models start at 0.1 µm.
Which model handles the largest particles?
The BB-BPSA-6100C reaches 2000 µm (2 mm) in wet mode, suitable for coarse powders, granules, and large mineral particles. The 6100D covers up to 1500 µm in both dry and wet modes. The 2020L (dry) covers up to 800 µm.
Can a single unit measure both powders and liquid suspensions?
Yes — the BB-BPSA-6100D is a combined dry-and-wet instrument. It includes both the high-pressure air disperser for dry powders and the ultrasonic wet-dispersion cell, switchable without reconfiguring the optical bench. All other models are dedicated dry (2020L) or dedicated wet (5100H, 5200H, 6100C).
What power supply do these instruments require?
All five models accept AC 220 V / 110 V, 50/60 Hz. The 110 V configuration is optional and must be specified at order — confirm your local supply before ordering.
