The Glass Static Micromixer Platform mixes and reacts two streams in a glass microchannel plate. Microchannels give a large surface area per volume, so mass and heat transfer are fast, reactions run safely in small volumes, and conditions scale with little change from lab to pilot. The static-mixing design suits two phases with very different densities and slow reactions.
Typical uses are pharmaceutical intermediates and synthesis, fine and specialty chemicals, pesticide chemistry, nanomaterials and polymer modification, with reactions such as Michael additions, Friedel–Crafts alkylations, aldol reactions, sulfonation, nitration, diazotization and azidation.
