The Metallurgical Microscope XJD-100/XJD-200/XDS-1/4XC is an upright reflected light microscope designed for examination of opaque materials and surface analysis in materials science applications. The instrument features a monocular observation head tilted at 45° for comfortable viewing, integrated with a four-aperture nosepiece for objective lens mounting and coaxial coarse/fine focusing mechanism with 0.002mm precision.

Built-in halogen illumination (6V/20W) provides consistent sample lighting, while included color filters (blue, green, yellow) enable contrast enhancement for different material types. The double-layer mechanical stage (180×150mm with 15×15mm travel range) provides precise specimen positioning for systematic examination of metallurgical samples, surface defects, and material microstructures.

How It Works

Metallurgical microscopy employs reflected light illumination where light from the built-in halogen source passes through the objective lens and reflects off the specimen surface back through the optical system. This epi-illumination configuration enables examination of opaque materials that cannot transmit light, making it essential for metals, ceramics, and other solid materials.

The coaxial focusing mechanism uses rack and pinion gearing to provide both coarse positioning and fine adjustments with 0.002mm precision. The mechanical stage allows systematic scanning across the specimen surface while maintaining focus stability. Color filters modify illumination wavelength to enhance contrast for specific material features - blue filters improve resolution, green provides natural color balance, and yellow enhances contrast for certain phases and inclusions.
