The ConductScience Cube Ice Machine series delivers reliable cube ice production for laboratory applications requiring consistent ice supply. Available in three capacities (80kg, 150kg, and 300kg daily production), these units generate uniform 22x22x22mm cube ice suitable for sample preservation, reagent cooling, and temperature-controlled protocols. The machines utilize Tecumseh compressors with R404a refrigerant and accommodate both air and water cooling configurations for diverse laboratory environments.
Designed for continuous operation in ambient temperatures from 5-40°C, these ice machines provide automated ice production with integrated storage capacity matching daily output requirements. Standard accessories include ice scoop, water inlet hose, drain hose, and spare sealing washers for immediate installation and operation.
How It Works
These ice machines operate through vapor compression refrigeration using Tecumseh compressors and R404a refrigerant. The refrigeration cycle begins when the compressor pressurizes R404a gas, raising its temperature. The hot, high-pressure gas flows through the condenser where it releases heat and condenses into liquid refrigerant. This liquid refrigerant then passes through an expansion valve, reducing pressure and temperature before entering the evaporator.
In the evaporator, the cold refrigerant absorbs heat from the water supply, causing the refrigerant to vaporize while freezing the water into uniform 22x22x22mm cubes. The cube formation occurs in individual molds where water freezes from the outside in, creating clear, dense ice cubes. Once formed, a harvest cycle activates, warming the evaporator slightly to release the cubes into the storage bin.
The system includes both air and water cooling options for condensation, allowing adaptation to different laboratory environments and ambient conditions. Automatic controls manage the freeze-harvest cycle, water supply, and storage capacity to maintain continuous ice production within the specified ambient temperature range of 5-40°C.

Practical Tips
Clean water inlet lines monthly and sanitize storage bins weekly to prevent mineral buildup and bacterial contamination.
Why: Regular cleaning maintains ice quality and prevents system blockages that reduce production efficiency.
Monitor daily ice consumption patterns to select appropriate capacity model and optimize production scheduling.
Why: Matching production capacity to actual usage prevents energy waste and ensures adequate ice availability during peak demand.
Verify cube dimensions periodically using calipers to ensure 22x22x22mm specifications are maintained.
Why: Consistent cube size is critical for reproducible cooling rates in temperature-sensitive protocols.
Check water supply pressure and ambient temperature if ice production decreases below rated capacity.
Why: Inadequate water pressure or high ambient temperatures are common causes of reduced ice output.
Ensure proper ventilation clearance around condenser coils and avoid blocking air circulation paths.
Why: Adequate airflow prevents compressor overheating and maintains consistent ice production performance.
Log daily ice production quantities to establish baseline performance and identify maintenance needs.
Why: Production records help identify gradual performance decline before complete system failure occurs.
Use dedicated ice scoops and avoid direct hand contact with ice to maintain sanitary conditions.
Why: Proper handling prevents contamination that could compromise sample integrity in laboratory applications.

Compliance
What is the ice production rate and how consistent is daily output?
Daily production ranges from 150kg to 300kg depending on model, with consistent output maintained through automated freeze-harvest cycles and Tecumseh compressor systems designed for continuous laboratory operation.
Can the machine operate reliably in temperature-controlled laboratory environments?
Yes, the units operate in ambient temperatures from 5-40°C and offer both air and water cooling options to accommodate different laboratory HVAC systems and environmental conditions.
What are the power requirements and energy consumption characteristics?
Power consumption ranges from 750W to 1600W depending on capacity model. Consult product datasheet for specific electrical requirements and connection specifications.
How does cube size affect cooling performance in laboratory applications?
The 22x22x22mm uniform cubes provide consistent surface area and melting characteristics, ensuring predictable cooling rates for sample preservation and temperature-controlled protocols.
What maintenance procedures are required for continuous operation?
Regular cleaning of water lines, periodic sanitization of ice storage areas, and routine inspection of compressor components ensure optimal performance and ice quality for laboratory use.
Is the ice production suitable for direct contact with biological samples?
The ice is produced from connected water supply and stored in integrated bins. For applications requiring sterile or ultra-pure ice, consider water filtration systems and regular sanitization protocols.
How does storage capacity relate to daily laboratory ice consumption patterns?
Storage capacity matches daily production (80-300kg) allowing overnight accumulation for peak usage periods while preventing overflow during normal consumption cycles.
