The TZS Multi-parameter Soil Moisture Temperature Meter is a compact, portable handheld instrument designed for monitoring soil conditions in the field. Depending on the model selected, it measures soil moisture content, soil temperature, atmospheric temperature, atmospheric humidity, and dew point — giving researchers, agronomists, and environmental scientists a scalable toolkit that grows with their measurement needs.
The TZS family spans four models: the TZS-1K for soil moisture only, the TZS-2X adding soil temperature, the TZS-3X adding atmospheric temperature, and the TZS-5X extending further to atmospheric humidity and dew point. Each model saves data directly to the handheld unit and to a standard 4G Micro SD card, with storage capacity for up to 30,000 data groups. A power-off memory function ensures no data is lost if the unit loses power mid-deployment.
For unattended monitoring campaigns, the instrument supports both timed and manual data collection modes, logging readings automatically without requiring an operator on site. Up to 32 sensor channels can be read simultaneously via RS485 wired communication, with sensor cables reaching approximately 100 meters — suitable for distributed field plots, greenhouse arrays, or irrigation monitoring setups. The concentrator-based connection design maintains sensor accuracy when multiple sensors are combined.
Data can be reviewed directly on the LCD display or transferred to a PC via the Micro SD card. Low-power design, built-in battery charging protection, low-voltage alerts, and short-circuit/interference safeguards support reliable long-term deployment across soil science, crop research, ecological monitoring, and precision agriculture applications.

Which model should I choose for my study?
Select the model that matches the parameters your study requires. The TZS-1K measures soil moisture only. The TZS-2X adds soil temperature. The TZS-3X further adds atmospheric temperature. The TZS-5X is the most comprehensive, also covering atmospheric humidity and dew point. Each model saves data to the handheld unit and to the included Micro SD card.
How much data can the system store?
The handheld unit stores up to 30,000 data groups. The instrument also comes standard with a 4G Micro SD card. Saved data is protected by a power-off memory function, so records on the SD card are preserved even if the unit loses power.
Can the meter operate unattended in the field?
Yes. The instrument supports both timed and manual data collection modes, allowing it to record and save measurements automatically without a field operator present. This makes it suitable for continuous or scheduled monitoring deployments.
How many sensors can be connected at once, and over what distance?
Up to 32 sensor channels can be detected simultaneously when sensors are combined via a concentrator. Communication uses RS485 wiring, and sensor cables can reach approximately 100 meters. Connecting multiple sensors through the concentrator does not affect measurement accuracy.
How is data accessed after collection?
Data can be reviewed directly on the handheld LCD display in the field. It can also be transferred to a PC by importing from the Micro SD card. The instrument automatically detects connected sensors when they are linked to the handset.
