What tubing sizes does the rLabS4 accept?
The rLabS4 uses a 10-roller DG pump head and accepts four tubing sizes (inner diameter × wall): 0.5 × 0.8 mm (0.0013–2 mL/min), 1 × 1 mm (0.006–9 mL/min), 2 × 1 mm (0.022–33 mL/min), and 3 × 1 mm (0.032–48 mL/min). The interface shows the maximum achievable flow for whichever tubing is installed, so tubing can be sized to the flow target before a run starts.
Can each of the four channels run a different program?
Yes. Every channel is fully independent, with its own speed, flow, and calibration parameters. Each channel can be assigned its own work mode (flow, timed + fixed-quantity, timed + fixed-speed, or fixed-quantity + fixed-speed) and run concurrently with the others. Individual channels can be closed from the touchscreen and reopened later without disturbing the rest.
How do I integrate the rLabS4 with a laboratory automation system?
The pump exposes both RS485 and USB communication interfaces and accepts external start/stop via a dedicated control line or footswitch. Because flow and speed can be adjusted online while the pump is running, it can be driven from an external controller — for example, closing a dosing loop based on a pH, OD, or temperature reading.
How precise is flow control at low speeds?
Speed resolution is 0.01 rpm across the full 0.01–150 rpm range, and each channel is individually calibrated. With 0.5 × 0.8 mm tubing this delivers stable flows down to approximately 1.3 µL/min, which makes the rLabS4 appropriate for microfluidic feeding, organoid perfusion, and slow-drip infusion protocols.
Does the touchscreen store protocols between runs?
Yes. Calibration parameters are stored per channel, and the fixed-quantity and timed work modes retain their setpoints, so a protocol configured once can be recalled on the next run. The 5-inch color touchscreen also shows live flow rate and remaining time for timed and fixed-quantity runs, so the pump can be checked against the programmed volume.
Is the pump head included with the rLabS4?
Yes. The rLabS4 features an integrated 10-roller pump head — no separate pump head purchase is needed.
