Episode Description
This week on The Conduct Science Podcast, join Mitch and Tom as they explore genes and inheritance! As per usual, the boys kick off the show with some news and facts before getting down to the nitty-gritty: what makes us the way we are?! Mitch and Tom explain what genes are, how they are related to DNA, and where chromosomes come into it. Trying to keep this episode simple and on track, do they manage it? Tom then takes a look at genes in a bit further detail and explains to us how genes are inherited throughout the generations and why ginger (red-headed) people are actually going extinct! To round out the show Mitch takes us on a tour of epigenetics! Nature vs nurture can our environment really change how our genes are expressed?! Yes, yes they can.
