Michael Faraday was a key figure in the history of electricity and the discovery of new compounds. Due to his work on electromagnetic rotation he paved the way forward for the invention of the electric motor and his discovery of Faraday’s Law was vital for our understanding for the use of batteries and electrode reactions. Some of his experiments were crazy by today’s standards, in one instance proving his invention of the Faraday cage he passed high voltage electricity through a whole room coated in foil. Faraday also showed it is possible to change the state of almost every element via the use of temperature and/or pressure.
