Marie Curie

07/11/1867 - 07/04/1934

Marie Curie’s work and research was instrumental and recognized worldwide. In her name a charity exists in the UK supporting those people and their families diagnosed with terminal illnesses, someone Curie herself died from due to her over explosion to radiation. She along with a handful of others were only too important in the learning of radioactive elements and their discovery, as well as the use of x-rays. During WWI she was able to invent transportable x-ray machines that saved countless lives as they were able to find bullets and shrapnel in the wounded. Her works afforded her two Nobel Prizes, countless awards and gifts and she was even one of the first female professors in France.
