The Real-Time Place Preference Chamber is an advanced version of the conditioned place preference chamber, a widely used model for investigating the reinforcing effects of both natural and pharmacological stimuli, such as addictive substances.
In this test, mice are placed in a two-chamber enclosure devoid of additional contextual cues. At the start of the experiment, the mice are gently positioned in the center of the cage. They will receive laser stimulation upon entering one of the chambers, with the specific side for stimulation being randomly assigned at the beginning of the test.
