Integration of your application with EHR

A health IT company developed a modern innovative software product/service for the healthcare market comprised of patient facing and provider facing applications. These applications needed to be aware of new patient registrations, patient transfers within a hospital, and statuses of patient diagnostic/therapeutic procedures to provide patients and physicians with relevant, real-time connectivity with these applications. Maintaining a core focus on the development of its software platform, this company looked to leverage significant interoperability expertise from the outside and contacted Health Samurai to assist in the required integration of their software with client hospital EHRs and other information systems.

Health Samurai connected client’s product with the hospital’s HL7 engine, leveraging Health Samurai’s Aidbox integration module. The Aidbox integration module received HL7 feeds, including ADT (Admit Discharge Transfer) as well as ORU (Observation Result), and translated such data to client’s product API commands. Thus client was able to focus internal resources on its core business while Health Samurai seamlessly delivered all interoperability requirements on time and below budget. The main concept of the solution is shown below.

Integration of EHR into Custom Application Scheme
Two engineers completed the pilot integration in one week, saving client in excess of $10,000 in costs and one month ahead of schedule.
